Don't give powers in a game if you cannot support using them. The puzzles felt promising at the beginning but later you see how shallow they are by putting "blocks" in places to keep you from actually using your powers like you should be able to (ie, teleport). Doesn't seem they could spend the time to make a decent AI so they just made it "hard" by making them always know where you are). It's shallow, the story is predictable, the Boss AI is _really_ obnoxious (ie, they "know" where you are. The majority of the skills are boring or feel more cumbersome than their worth, the UI is a bit clunky, spending time searching all over the maps to get upgrade points is not worth it and the skill cooldowns don't work properly! There was such potential here to be a great game I don't want to bash too hard on it because it's a small developer. It starts off really well, strong and pretty promising but then just falls flat. Hopefully, the devs will improve level design in Aragami 2, but right now the game feels really boring and bland.Ħh 23m PlayedAs much as I wanted to enjoy this game and wanted to recommend it, I just can't. You still can play it since the core gameplay is okayish, but consider buying it only if you finished all the classic stealth games and have nothing else to do. So bottom line, Aragami is really lacking in level design, variety and replayability. Like character jumping to an incorrect location or guards noticing you killing their dead buddy miles away in a shadow. Why add additional mission requirements or restrictions like in Thief or Hitman on harder difficulties when you can simply make enemies super vigilant and deadly, right? Oh, and there are some bugs around that can easily make you discovered or killed. That and "hard" mode when enemies notice you almost instantly, which I think is the cheapest way to make the game harder. This lack of explanation is probably the only thing that makes Aragami somewhat difficult. Welcome to replaying the whole checkpoint and eliminating a dozen enemies over again. Since light makes you more visible and drains your shadow energy (it's required for skills), I thought it's ok to move near this wisp like thingy and it would only reveal my character. For instance, on one level you encounter floating lights (they look kinda like wisps). Finally, the game doesn't explain new mechanics even though there are very few of them. Especially if you are going for Oni achievement which means killing every one: there are dozens of enemies on every location (chapter 6 already has 77 on normal!), and getting rid of everyone is really tedious. And since there are only a couple enemy types (basically melee guys and archers), the game quickly turns into a repetitve chore. ability points) but those skills also provide little to no variety and also have very limited number of uses. Sure, you unlock new skills by gathering scrolls (i.e. Even boss fights utilize the same mechanics and bring nothing new to the table. So every level feels and plays similarly to the one before it. Level design is one of the main things what makes those games great, and Aragami has extremely boring locations which offer almost no variety and replayability, and even though they somewhat differ visually, gameplay wise they are exactly the same. Getting detected can lead to an abrupt defeat, so you must rely on your supernatural abilities and stealth to choose your battles wisely.10h 30m PlayedThis is not the worst stealth game, but it stands nowhere near Thief, Dishonored, Splinter Cell or Hitman. Aragami has a punishing difficulty you are lethal when undetected, but outmatched in numbers. The scenarios are open and filled with multiple hidden paths and ways to reach your objectives. As you advance you will need to use all your powers and wit to sneak past guards, teleport between shadows, create your own areas of darkness and strategically assassinate those who stand in your way.Īragami has strong influences from stealth classics such the Tenchu Saga, or more modern stealth gems like Mark of the Ninja and Dishonoured. Dispose of enemy corpses using your Shadow Vanish, create shadow clones to distract your enemies or invoke black holes to swallow your targets in one fell swoop. Cast shadows on any surface and use your Shadow Leap to move around undetected. Use your Shadow Powers to become the ultimate stealth killer. Make your way through the heavily guarded city with Yamiko by your side as you uncover memories from your past life and ultimately decipher your connection with your summoned. How you were once defeated or any clear memories to your past are all fragmented. You, a once mighty warrior, have been summoned back from the dead by Yamiko, a noble girl from the sacred citadel of Kyuryu. Play as Aragami, an undead assassin with supernatural abilities. Aragami is a third-person stealth game in which you control the shadows.
